First time listening in... good stuff. Thanks for taking time to share your opinions and analysis.
I like your idea on a slick-fielding 4th outfielder... Chavez scares me a little bit with his injury last year. What would you think Randy Winn? Not sure if he's still hoping for a big contract or a starting job, but he might be a decent investment as an older veteran role player.
Hey Josh, thanks for checking out the podcast and stopping by my site after.
Randy Winn's an interesting name. I kind of forget about him as he's been out there in San Francisco for the past several years. He certainly could step in and be a starter if we needed it.
There's two things that would lead me to Crisp or Chavez first though (and yes, Chavez is a little bit of an injury scare): 1) Both Crisp and Chavez should be enough cheaper than Winn, and 2) I'd feel comfortable putting them in centerfield more than I would with Randy Winn -- he can play center for sure but has primarily been used as a corner outfielder the past couple of years.
That being said, when Winn's hitting well, he's usually hitting really well, and he seems like a solid all-around guy to have on a team.

Thanks for mentioning my name on the podcast :-) Do you think anyone could spell it though after hearing it for the first time?
ReplyDeleteHaha, I probably couldn't you're right. That's why they'll have to check my blog-roll and you'll have to be a guest caller sometime!
